ROALD DAHL (Writer) (1916–1990) is one of the world’s favorite storytellers with more than 250 million books sold worldwide in 61 languages. He is loved for such favorites as James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, The BFG, Fantastic Mr. Fox and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Now going into its third year, Roald Dahl’s Imaginormous Challenge continues to partner with the stage production by awarding recipients the prize of a lifetime of turning their idea into a theatrical creation. DAVID GREIG (Book Writer) is a playwright. His plays include The Events, The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart, Monster in the Hall, Midsummer, Dunsinane, Yellow Moon, Damascus, Outlying Islands, The American Pilot, San Diego, Pyrenees, The Cosmonaut’s Last Message, Dr. Korczcak’s Example, The Architect and Europe. David’s adaptations include The Suppliant Women, The Father, The Lorax, Lanark, Creditors, and Caligula. In 1990, he co-founded Suspect Culture Theatre Co., for whom he wrote Timeless, Mainstream, and 8000M. Since 2016, David has been the Artistic Director at The Royal Lyceum Theatre in Edinburgh.
MARC SHAIMAN (Music & Lyrics) is a composer/lyricist/arranger/performer working in films, television, musical theater, and recordings. He has won several honors, including a Tony, an Emmy, a Grammy, plus seven Oscar nominations. SCOTT WITTMAN (Lyrics). Tony, Grammy, and Olivier Award winning lyricist, director, writer, and conceiver Scott Wittman co-wrote the lyrics for the hit musical Hairspray (Tony, Grammy, Olivier Award-winner) with creative partner Marc Shaiman. Wittman served as an executive producer on the hit film starring John Travolta. Nominated for a Golden Globe, Grammy, and two Emmy Awards for the original songs on NBC’s musical drama Smash. Shaiman and Wittman’s original score for the Marilyn Monroe musical Bombshell was released by Sony Records. Scott and Marc’s Broadway writing credits include Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me, which Scott also directed, Catch Me If You Can (Tony nom. for Best Musical), and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on Broadway and the West End. Scott has created and directed concerts for Patti LuPone. He has created solo shows for Christine Ebersole and Nathan Lane, as well as writing for Bette Midler’s 2015 Divine Intervention World Tour. Off-Broadway, he conceived and directed Jukebox Jackie starring Justin Vivian Bond at La Mama, and Bridget Everett’s Rockbottom at the Public Theatre. His notorious and legendary Downtown shows are in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York. Marc and Scott also wrote the score to Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns starring Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Meryl Streep. The song “The Place Where Lost Things Go” was nominated for an Oscar.
JACK O’BRIEN (Original Director) has won three Tony Awards for his direction of Hairspray, Henry IV, and The Coast of Utopia. His other recent Broadway credits include Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, Carousel, The Front Page, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, It’s Only a Play, Macbeth, The Nance, Dead Accounts, Catch Me If You Can, Impressionism, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (Tony nom.), Imaginary Friends, The Invention of Love (Tony nomination and Drama Desk winner), The Full Monty (Tony nom.), More to Love, Getting Away with Murder, The Little Foxes, Damn Yankees, Two Shakespearean Actors (Tony nom.) and Porgy and Bess (Tony nom.).Off-Broadway credits include Tom Stoppard’s The Hard Problem, Pride’s Crossing, and Hapgood (Lucille Lortel Award). Other productions include Il Trittico at the Metropolitan Opera, Guys and Dolls at Carnegie Hall, Much Ado About Nothing for The Public’s Shakespeare in the Park, Love Never Dies and Hairspray (Olivier nom.) in London, which saw a revival at the Coliseum in London this summer. Mr. O’Brien was the Artistic Director of the Old Globe Theatre from 1981 till 2007. He has directed six programs for PBS’s American Playhouse. His book, Jack Be Nimble, is published by Farrar, Strauss and Giroux and his next volume, Jack in the Box, or How to Goddamn Direct, will also be published by FSG next season.

MICHAEL STAROBIN (Additional Orchestrations) is a well-known orchestrator and arranger working on Broadway and in Hollywood. Broadway orchestrator credits include Falsettos, Sunday in the Park with George, Assassins (2004 Tony Award, Best Orchestrations) and Next to Normal (2009 Tony Award, Best Orchestrations). He was the conductor and orchestrator for Disney’s animated film The Hunchback of Notre Dame, orchestrated the songs for Tangled, and contributed orchestrations to the film versions of Chicago, Nine, Beauty and the Beast (2017), and Mary Poppins Returns.

LANGLEY PARK PRODUCTIONS (Producer). Kevin McCormick currently serves as Executive Vice President Production and Senior Advisor, Warner Bros. Pictures. He previously served as President of Production, leaving the studio in 2010 and starting his Warner based production company Langley Park Pictures. Kevin currently oversees numerous features in development at Warner Bros., while also serving as a producer on Beetlejuice and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.
NEAL STREET PRODUCTIONS (Producer) produce film, television, and theater. Formed in 2003 by Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris, and Caro Newling, with Nicolas Brown joining as fourth director in the company’s 10th year. In 2015, Neal Street moved under the umbrella of parent company, All3Media. Previously Sam Mendes and Caro Newling established and ran the Donmar Warehouse (1992–2002), producing over 70 productions; since then, Newling has produced the theater slate for Neal Street Productions. Kaufman has also produced the West End, Broadway, first national tour, and Australian production of the Olivier Award-winning musical Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and the Broadway stage adaptation of Stephen King’s Misery starring Bruce Willis and Laurie Metcalf, as well as the Tony Award-winning The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time. Recent and upcoming projects include Dave (Arena Stage), 17 Again (NAMT), Dog Day Afternoon and A Star is Born. Before joining WBThV, Kaufman oversaw the Broadway productions of Hairspray, The Wedding Singer, and Elf the Musical for New Line Cinema. Kaufman executive produced the New Line films Secondhand Lions, Hairspray, Four Christmases, 17 Again, and My Sister’s Keeper, and co-produced Valentine’s Day.
